OK GGang! Your GORGG-anization committee has snagged a great little hotel (many thanks to JJ's better half, KJ, for much of the legwork).
Here are the particulars:
Quality Hotel & Suites
754 Bronte Road
Oakville, Ontario L6J 4Z3
Telephone - 905-847-6667
Fax - 905-847-7447
Toll Free - 1-800-228-5151 (not recommended to use this since you'll get the
standard Quality Inn book rate when booking rather than the GORGG rate. Yes,
we have a great reduced rate)
E-mail: qhso@nhgi.com (Attention: Tricia
Schopf - ask for the GORGG rate). This is the preferred method of booking. Also,
ask for smoking, no smoking, or no preference.
Now, for the rooms...
The hotel has standard double bed rooms, but they also have 40 suites available (real 2 room suites), either with 2 queen size beds and a fold out sofa bed, or one king size bed with sofa bed. These suites are huge, well appointed, and can comfortably accommodate three people (and more if you're with family). The room rates based on double occupancy are:
Suites - $123 CDN
(taxes included) [about $90 US]
Rooms - $111 CDN (taxes included) [about $80 US]
Best value will be to arrange a threesome in a suite. (The hotel charges an extra $10 per extra person in the room -- the rate given above is based on double occupancy) With three in a room, that'll be about $35 US per person per night. You can't beat that! Also, the hotel is holding all the suites for GORGG weekend for us. However, there are a limited number of 2 queen bed suites. So unless, you want to crawl into the same bed as your GORGG room partner, book early! Book often!
Also, note that this room rate is available for your whole stay. If you decide to stay longer than the weekend the price won't go back to the regular rate.
Now for the hotel amenities:
Nice clean rooms with fridge and microwave in the suites, Heated indoor pool, Whirlpool, sauna, and exercise room, English pub, Easy access to the QEW (the main highway between Toronto and the U.S. border from Niagara Falls) -- also easy access for "touristing" to the city of Toronto or even to Niagara Falls. Oakville itself has lots of "Canadian charm" and many local activities.
Food:
We're trying to get the food menu together, and we need to find out if anyone has any particular dietary requirements such as vegetarian, food allergies, diabetic, religious restrictions, etc. e-mail JJ with this info.
